COVID-19 has impacted the sports world.  Athletes and coaches can be seen wearing masks on the sidelines. With cases on the rise, will the winter sports season continue?

At Gilmour, the answer is “Yes!”  According to Varsity Assistant Coach Mr. Jeff Brown, there was “a winter sports coaches meeting with the Athletic Department and they briefed us on new things like CDC guidelines” to make sure every athlete is safe.  Coach Brown also said the staff tries to go “above and beyond the requirements to make sure our student-athletes are safe.”

New measures are in place to ensure the continuation of winter sports. Coach Brown said all athletes and coaches may need to adjust accordingly as new needs and requirements may arise, and the Athletic Department has already been strategizing to keep student-athletes safe. Even coaches try to stay six feet apart from each other to help prevent any spread of COVID.

With safety being the top concern, Coach Brown said coaches “are willing to make any adjustment necessary so our guys can play this winter.”  Coach Brown is confident that the season will go as planned and that they will finish strong.

Seniors have been concerned about how this year is going to play out, especially with their final seasons as Lancers.  COVID-19 has stopped many events from happening this year, but as of right now, the Lancers will continue to play this season.
