Students may wonder which candidate will handle the COVID-19 situation the best. Here’s a summary for the Democratic ticket:
Former Vice President and Democratic candidate for President Joe Biden, Biden has a seven-point-plan about COVID-19. If absolutely necessary, he may consider a lockdown if that would help people across the country stay healthy during this pandemic.
Biden stated earlier in the year that shutting down the economy would have saved many lives. Whereas keeping it open puts many people at risk but on the other side many people will lose their job because of it. In September, Biden said, “There is going to be no need in my view, to be able to shut down the whole economy.” His position is that he will only shut down the economy if scientists recommend it.
One student said, “Biden may have done things a little differently, like taking action earlier, but COVID would probably still be here. I think Biden and Trump would have similar approaches to handing the pandemic as it is right now, but Biden would probably have a more environmentally positive approach.”
Students at Gilmour have differing views and mixed feelings about who they think would be best for handling the pandemic. As many seniors are voting for their first time, those interviewed agree that public and economic health appear to be issues that can unite or divide the country. After Election Day, the United States of America will see who wins the highest office in the land, and if the President will have the best pandemic plan for the electing public.
