Varsity Boys Basketball: Strong Start to the Season

The Varsity Boys Basketball team has had a successful start to their season. The team began their season with a record of 3-1. The team only plans to go up from there. While the team has lost some key seniors last year, the team has some returning talent who are ready to build off of last season.

Lancer Leadership

The team is under the leadership of Head Coach Mr. Dan DeCrane and Assistant Coaches Mr. Jeff Brown and Mr. Jerry Porath. This is Coach DeCrane’s second year of coaching. At the beginning of the season, Coach DeCrane selected three team captains: Ian Miller (‘20), Garrett Olsen (‘20), and Connor O’Toole (‘20). Captains Ian, Garrett, and Connor are ready to lead their team into a successful season.

Hopes and Goals for the Season

The team has big dreams for the season. Garrett Olsen (’20) comments that he “wants to make a further run in the playoffs than last year.” Achieving this goal will be no easy task. Ian Miller (’22) mentions “the team must keep improving and prove themselves in order to make a deep run in the playoffs. The team can not dwell on its losses. [They] must learn from their mistakes and make themselves better each day.”

Games to Look Out For

Some important games to look out for are Walsh Jesuit, Glenville, Harvey High School, University School, and Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School. These games are essential to the team if they want to make a playoff contention.
