Gilmour Academy’s Varsity A Hockey team played University school twice this year in the regular season. Gilmour won the first game. University School won the second. Both contests were close. In the the third game for the Cleveland Cup, Gilmour won 3-2 in overtime.

The Cleveland Cup is the league championship for the Great Lakes Hockey League (GLHL). The clinching goal came from freshman, Charlie Tuggey, to win the game and Gilmour Academy’s first ever Cleveland cup.

Tuggey said, “This is definitely one of my favorite hockey moments ever, it’s also the biggest goal I have scored to date in my hockey career.”

Although the Varsity A Hockey team lost to Mentor on February 21 and suffered an unlikely early exit from the state tournament, the boys enjoyed a winning season, one of Gilmour’s best to date.
