Naz Hillmon Breaks School Record in Girls Basketball

Student athletes represent the Academy when they compete, and sometimes they make school history. Naz Hillmon (`18), a captain of the Girls Basketball team, recently broke the record for scoring the most points.

On December 23, Hillmon scored 23 points against Massillon Jackson. This helped her reach 1,659 points and surpass former teammate, Emily Kelley (`17). After the game, Kelley presented Hillmon with the award.

Hillmon said, “It was an awesome feeling. I never thought about breaking the record. It was amazing receiving the game ball from my best friend. It reminded me the time we played together.” Hillmon also noted, “The best part is that it was like her passing the torch to me.”

Mrs. Kristy Angelo, Associate Athletic Department, has enjoyed seeing Hillmon develop as an athlete. She said, “It has been fun to watch her throughout her four years as a Lancer. She is a hard worker with a true passion for the game.”

Next year, Hillmon will be attending Michigan to play D1 basketball.

Records are on permanent display in the Athletic Center.
