GA Baseball… On the Road to States?

It’s always difficult to follow up something successful. In this regard,
the baseball team has a great task ahead of them. After reaching the state
final four and being just two wins away from a state title, the Lancers are
hungrier than ever for success in 2009.

Although led by star athletes like Billy Urban (`09), who will be playing
baseball for St. Bonaventure come next year, the Lancer baseball team
is talented at every position and has contributors at every grade level. The
seniors on the team, Billy Urban, Brian Sharnsky, Vinny Trivisonno, and Cody
Osburn plan to take the team back to the state tournament, this time as
the leaders of the team. While juniors Graham Boduszek, Jake Hurley, Nate
Fiala, Brian Hyland, and Zach Beuhner hope to contribute at the varsity level
more in 2009 than they did in 2008.

However, the task does loom large. The team lost key senior contributors
from the state final four team including 2008 senior captain Chris
Fagan (`08). The 2008 team broke long held school records, but the 2009
squad wants to do the same. Vinny Trivisonno (`09) says,

The goal is to win the state championship.

If accomplished that goal would one up the 2008
team, send the seniors out on top, and set the standard for GA baseball teams
for years to come.
